Roughly fifty automobiles have been smeared with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm police.
Cars, exterior walls and postboxes were defaced, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they stated in a official communication.
Officers say they were contacted late on Wednesday, when a individual noticed that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued fluid.
The liquid had been placed in the shape of a banned symbol, they stated.
Police then found many other smeared cars and residential walls in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under legislation prohibiting the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.
Law enforcement report initial examinations suggest the fluid was likely human bodily fluid.
"At present there remains no clue as to where it came from; investigators are presently not aware of any injuries in relation with the incident," they added.
City officials stated they were trying "to unravel the case" and have appealed to the residents for information.
An important official stated the incident rendered him stunned and required to be solved quickly.
"This act strikes at the center of Hanau and revives the trauma of the extremist violent incident in 2020," he wrote on social media, mentioning the murder of nine individuals by a shooter targeting residents of migrant background in five years prior.
